UC, USC rule CESAFI athletics

CEBU, Philippines - The University of Cebu and the University of San Carlos reigned supreme in separate divisions in the 2016 Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation, Inc.  athletics event at the Cebu City Sports Center.

UC dominated the secondary level, while USC ruled the tertiary division.

UC claimed 16 golds, nine silvers and 10 bronzes, while USC-BED came out second with a 14-10-26 medal haul followed by Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu with three golds, 12 silvers and four bronze medals.

In the tertiary level, USC harvested 17 golds, 12 silvers and nine bronze medals.  UC registered 14-14-7 gold-silver-bronze, while University of Southern Philippines Foundation got the third spot with six golds, 10 silvers and 15 bronzes.

Samantha Limos led UC’s charge in the secondary when she became the fastest girl in the 100m and 200m events with a time of 12.94 and 26:54, respectively. She also snared the gold medal in the 400m with 1:03.13 clocking.

USC-BED’s Seth Abram Pilapil harvested three golds also in the 100m, 200m and 400m, while his teammate Mary Joy Loberanis dominated the 800m, 1,500m and 3000m.

On the other hand, Josielou Rebalde powered USC’s title run in the tertiary after delivering three gold medals in the 100m, 200m and 400m run. (FREEMAN)
