Cebu to host Smart/MVP taekwondo championships
CEBU, Philippines - The country’s promising jins brace for the 2016 SMART/MVP Sports Foundation National Inter-School Taekwondo Championships that kicks off today at the SM Seaside City.
Over 800 seasoned and upcoming taekwondo jins are seeing action in the event with half of it coming from Luzon.
The tournament features three divisions: grade school, cadet junior and seniors class. Each division will have the novice and advance classification.
Cebu will be bannered by athletes coming from the Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Incorporated (CESAFI). Some of them also came from public and private schools in the provinces.
The Philippine Taekwondo Association (PTA) decided to bring the event in Cebu to give more provincial schools a chance to showcase their skills.
To ensure that the first Cebu hosting will be successful, PTA conducted a refresher course for the officials yesterday. (FREEMAN)
