Cebu Marathon gets more exciting

CEBU, Philippines - The next Cebu Marathon gets more exciting and challenging not only with its new look but also with its new route for the 2017 edition slated on January 8.

After holding the annual tilt at the Cebu Asiatown IT Park for several years, the next action will now be staged at the Cebu Business Park, hence it will no longer pass the South Road Properties area.

Instead, the race will be a “Tri-City” with the route covering parts of Cebu City, Mandaue and Lapu-Lapu.

This marks for the first time that the footrace will go up to the Marcelo Fernan Bridge, that as far as the 21K and the full marathon runners are concerned.

And from 5K only, there will also be a 10K category this time.

The organizing Cebu Executive Runners Club wants to make their forthcoming spectacle extra special as they celebrate their 10th anniversary. They started the event as 'Cebu Sinulog Half-Marathon' way back in 2007.

In line with that, CERCA and RunRio will also be unvieling soon their new event logo.

For those without credit cards, CERC’s John Pages said there will be an on-site registration starting October 10 at the Active Zone in Ayala Center Cebu. (FREEMAN)
