Greywolves extend record start to 4-0
CEBU, Philippines - The rampaging Don Bosco Greywolves tamed the Southwestern University Baby Cobras, 83-74, to extend their all-time best start to 4-0 in the 16th Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation, Inc. men's basketball tournament last night at the Cebu Coliseum.
Grenal Malubay had 17 points, while Jomari Ranuco, JB Damolo and Ken Gato connived for 44 points fot the Greywolves, the only undefeated team in the juniors division that has by far lived up to their remarkable transformation from whipping boys to a respectable championship contender.
Playing with high level of confidence, the rejuvenated Greywolves came out with their guns ablaze to take a 33-20 edge in 4:37 of the second period.
The Baby Cobras crept to within just a hairline, 34-35, but that was the closest they could come as the Greywolves countered with a blistering 22-2 blitz bridging the second and third quarters to mount an imposing 21-point bulge, 57-36.
Still, the Baby Cobras refused to roll down and just die, closing in at 65-70 but that proved to be their last stand as the Greywolves made a 12-5 run to virtually wrap up the win, 82-70, with only a minute left to play. (FREEMAN)
