TNT seeks share of lead

CEBU, Philippines - TNT KaTropa shoots for third straight victory that will give it a piece of the tournament lead as it resumes its campaign in the 2016 PBA Governors’ Cup tonight at the Ynares Center.

Following a resounding victory over its sister-team Meralco Bolts last Saturday, the KaTropa are looking to keep its record spotless at 3-0 when they clash with the Alaska Aces at 7 p.m. after the opener between Rain or Shine Elasto Painters and Blackwater Elite at 4:15 p.m.

Should TNT emerge victorious again, it will tie the Mahindra Enforcer.

TNT are getting a lot of positives from its two imports in Mario Little and Syrian Michael Madanly. Little only managed to score 14 points against Meralco but he grabbed 11 boards, while Madanly delivered 14 points off the bench.

Gilas Pilipinas cager Jayson Castro also has shown he can provide huge boost offensively for TNT beside the imports after scoring team-high 24 points on that game.

Alaska, for its part, will have a tough challenge against TNT as they will play minus star player Calvin Abueva who was slapped with a one-game ban after a cheap shot on Barangay Ginebra’s Chris Ellis last Sunday.

"We play, I think, clearly one of the best teams in the league in Talk 'N Text without one of the best players in the league, so obviously that has an impact on the game," said Compton in an interview with Spin.ph. I don’t know that there’s any game that Calvin plays where you don’t feel his presence. You’re gonna feel his presence for sure," he said.

With this, Aces will rely on its import LaDonate Henson who provide spark for his team scoring 29 points during their overtime victory over the Gin Kings. (FREEMAN)
