Edera powers Kocera to 4-0 start in E-League
CEBU, Philippines - Ariel Ramonito Edera flashed an all-around hardcourt show as the Kyocera Frontiers downed The Results Spartans, 80-75, for a rousing 4-0 start in the Evo League of the 12th CSCC E-League men's basketball tournament last Saturday at the City Sports Club-Cebu gym.Edera exploded for 30 points laced with eight rebounds, three blocks and as many assists as Frontiers quickly shrugged off a slow start to turn the tables on the Spartans, who collapsed after a good 19-13 start.
Winston Stephen Panal chipped in 12 markers for the Frontiers, who staged a daring counter-attack in the middle quarters to silence the Spartants at the final buzzer.
Jane Seno topscored with 26 points on top of six rebounds and four assists, while Winston Pacaldo had 15 points, eight rebounds, five assists and three steals but their efforts went for naught as the Spartans crashed to their third straight loss in as many starts.
In the other Evo League game, Jonas Panerio churned out 26 points, six rebounds, three assists and as many steals as the Author Solutions, Inc. Hardbacks rammed past the Dynino Raptors, 62-56.
John Lorenzo Segarra finished with 15 points, six rebounds and three assists as the Hardbacks evened their record to 2-2 in a tie with their victims.
In the Elite Classic, Esrom Cuizon fired 20 points, six rebounds and five assists to lead the ePerformax Reds to 78-69 crushing of the Wipro Tigers, while Juna Marion Misa unloaded 16 points, six assists and five rebounds as the Accenture Sharks swallowed whole the Lexmark Stallions, 74-55.
Robert Gilo finished with 16 points and 17 rebounds as ePerformax improved to 2-1, while Archie Brian Batua had 13 points, 14 rebounds and five assists for Accenture, which finally barged into the win column after dropping two straight games.
