Sorongon, Chipsorir top Hunat Sugbu 6
CEBU, Philippines - Veteran long distance runner Ruffa Sorongon and Kenyan Eric Chipsorir stamped their respective classes in the premiere 21K open category of Cebu Parklane International Hotel’s Hunat Sugbu 6-Dagan Para Ni Maning yesterday at the Terraces grounds of Ayala Center Cebu.
After competing in a shorter distance during the Cebu Run for the Rivers last Saturday, Sorongon decided to join a longer race and succeeded in her quest of grabbing the women's top spot with the time of one hour, 31 minutes and 27 seconds.
Jenelyn Nobleza wound up second in 1:31:29, while April Flynn finished third in 1:37:05.
In the men’s side, Chipsiror claimed his second straight title in two weeks after posting the fastest time of 1:12:49. His fellow countryman Joseph Mururi took the second place honors with a time of 1:13:31 as Jason Agravante settled for third with a 1:15:14 clocking.
Rafael Piscos emerged as the fastest in the men's 12K with a time of 42:08 followed by Elmer Bartolo (42:33) and Michael Largo (42:59).
In the distaff side, Cresilda Allanic reigned supreme with a time of 1:02:52, while Rona Lacanlale and Evangeline Balasuela occupied the next two spots in 1:08:10 and 1:09:08, respectively.
Arnel Florentino (21:14) and Cherry Adrin (24:48) topped the 6K battle, while Mark Dome Dinoy (8:47) and Katherine Yu (10:41) were the fastest in the 3K. (FREEMAN)
