Belande spews fire for Dragons, Hermosa explodes with 52 points for Boomerangs

CEBU, Philippines – Nino Belande charted 20 points and 18 rebounds to power the Supportsave Dragons to an 86-61 rout of the Teletech Titans in the 11th CSCC E-League men's basketball tournament last Saturday at the City Sports Club-Cebu gym.

Germaine Jo Guarisma added 19 points spiked with eight assists and seven steals as Supportsave firmed up its grip of the solo lead in the Evo League with a 9-win, 1-loss record. The outcome of the match was already foregone conclusion after the Dragons posted a commanding 43-25 lead at halftime.

Jonas Concepcion unloaded 26 points, three rebounds and as many assists but to no avail as Teletech further slipped at the cellar with nine loss in 11 starts.

On the other hand, Sam Jordan Hermosa exploded with a season-high 52 points laced with 12 rebounds and four assists as the Telstra-Teletech Boomerangs whipped the 24/7 Cagers, 96-83, to remain at second place in the standings with an 8-2 win-loss card.

Jaygard Vios added 21 points and four steals for Tesltra, which used a strong 21-10 endgame punch to knock down the Cagers.

Ralph Belarmino unloaded a personal-best 41 points and 14 rebounds but his efforts went to waste as 24/7dropped to 4-6.

In the other games, Aerl Genebraldo sparkled with 30 points and 14 rebounds as the Calltek Trojans outlasted the Kyocera Frontiers, 73-67, while Justin Jay de la Cruz banged in 17 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Author Sulotions, Inc. Hardbacks to a 75-63 triumph over The Results Companies Spartans.

Joshua Benedict Sasing added 18 points, 10 rebounds and six assists followed by Patrick Jamlan with 17 points for Calltek, which now holds an even 5-5 slate in a tie with The Results Companies.

ASI bettered its win-loss record to 6-4, while Kyocera dropped to 7-3.—EBV (FREEMAN)
