CEBU, Philippines - ALA Promotions CEO and President Michael Aldeguer has been named ‘Best Promoter’ and will be awarded during the 15th Gabriel ‘Flash’ Elorde Boxing Awards Banquet of Champions on March 25 at the Fiesta Paviloion of the Manila Hotel.

In a letter from Johhny Elorde, CEO of the said awarding ceremony, Aldeguer will be feted because of his dedication in the sport of boxing through numerous promotions both international and local.

ALA Promotions has been instrumental in producing number of Filipino champions together with the highly-succesful Pinoy Pride boxing series.

“This award is not only for me but for the promotional company itself,” said Aldeguer. “I like to thank all the boxers, media and all the people behind (ALA Promotions) for making this possible.”

Michael also acknowledged his father Antonio Aldeguer, the founder of the famed Cebu-based boxing outfit.

It will be a good night for ALA Promotions as undefeated and reigning IBF Intercontinental super bantamweight champion ‘Prince’ Albert Pagara will be hailed as “Most Promising Boxer,”  while Edmund Villamor will be named “Best Trainer.”

The Elorde clan is presenting the annual Elorde awards in celebration of the 80th birth anniversary of the boxing legend who compiled a ring record of 89-27-2, 33 by knockout.

Elorde is the first Filipino to be inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame with his unbeaten record as world junior lightweight champion from 1960 to 1967.

His wife Laura will lead the Elorde clan in the award presentation. — Lemuel P. Maglinte (FREEMAN)
