Tabal sizzles in Condura 21K race
CEBU, Philippines – Mary Joy Tabal, the country’s reigning marathon queen, scored a double victory in the 21K premier division of the Condura Skyway Marathon 2015 yesterday at the Spectrum Midway in Muntinlupa City.
Aside from topping the all-Filipino 21K women’s open, Tabal also got a separate prize for being the second finisher overall in the seniors division.
Joining the event was not on Tabal’s original plan, but she can’t say no as her sponsor ASICS obliged her to join in the half-marathon race.
Tabal finished the race in one hour, 23 minutes and six seconds, way ahead of her archrival Mary Grace de los Santos who clocked in 1:25:35. Another seasoned runner Jho-an Banayag settled for third with a 1:29:30 clocking.
In the men's division, Cebuano Noel Tillor made his presence felt by placing third in the all-Filipino category dominated by Rafael Poliquit Jr. Tillor was also fifth overall in the full marathon. (FREEMAN)
