CESAFI postpones Thursday’s game due to typhoon ‘Mario’

CEBU, Philippines - Due to heavy rain brought by typhoon ‘Mario’ which resulted to flooding in some areas in Metro Cebu, the Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation, Inc. announced Thursday the postponement of its men’s basketball games at the Cebu Coliseum.

The games will happen tomorrow with three games to be played.

The No.2 seed University of the Visayas Baby Lancers will battle seventh seed University of San Jose-Recoletos Baby Jaguars at 2 p.m. while third seed University of San Carlos Baby Warriors will shoot for their semis slot in the juniors division against No.6 team University of Southern Philippines Baby Panthers at 3:45 p.m.

In the main game, Southwestern University Cobras guns for another finals berth as they take on University of San Jose- Recoletos in the semifinal round of the men’s collegiate division.

The Cobras and Jaguars face off at 5:30 p.m. The winner of the Cobras-Jaguars semis series will meet USC Warriors in the finals. The Warriors dethroned defending champion UV Green Lancers, 67-61 last Wednesday.

The Cobras together with the Baby Lancers and Baby Warriors hold a twice-to-beat advantage against their respective foes.

In case of playoffs, CESAFI commissioner Felix O. Tiukinhoy said that the games will be played on Sunday. The semifinal rounds in the junior’s division will be played outright on Sunday.   — Gabby G. Malagar (FREEMAN)
