Ornopias shine in FIM race; Keiz BJ presents Easter Sunday motocross in Tuburan

EBV - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - Some of Cebu's top riders will once again strut their wares in the Keiz BJ and Phoenix Cyclomax Titan motocross race on Easter Sunday at a specially-designed racetrack in the municipality of Tuburan.

Dubbed as Brgy. Capt. Wilfredo Diamante Birthday Celebration Invitational Motocross, the one-day race is expected to give the spectators another breath-taking show of driving and maneuvering skills.

The categories to be contested are the expert, intermediate, novice, executive A, B, C and executive selection limited edition, mini 65, mini 85, peewee, beginners selection, beginners open production, and local enduro.

“It's another event that motocross fans should not miss. Some of Cebu's top riders will be joining the battle so it's going to be a highly entraining race. I guarantee all those who will come and watch the event that they will be thrilled to the max,” said Keiz BJ top honco Siegfred Ornopia, himself a multi-titled rider.

Ornopia just came from a successful stint in the Philippine leg of the FIM Asian Motocross Championships last March 22-24 in Puerto Princesa, Palawan. He emerged as champion in the executive division and had a second place finish in the Asian veteran category.

Siegfred's promising kids also made waves in the three-day tilt. Keizer Ornopia lifted the championship trophy in the 65cc juniors category. He also wound up second in the 50cc juniors class, while Ken Kerry Ornopia ended up fourth both in the 50cc and 65cc action.

Seigfred's active involvement in organizing races for the past two years is very timely since his big brother Lou Ornopia has just concluded, for good, his MS Motosuit Motocross Series.

“I really want to nurture the sport in Cebu. I know the Cebuanos are very thirsty of slambang motocross action that is why I am very determined to bring back its populatiry here,” said Siegfred.

Ornopia's upcoming event is supported by Tuburan Mayor Aljun Diamante, Geoffrey Viñalon of the Phoenix Petroleums, Edmund Pingkian of Haojue Motors, Romy Ouano and RMO Motorparts.  (FREEMAN)
