Liloan gov’t gets additional doctor

-

LILOAN has a new doctor after Mayor Vincent Franco “Duke” Frasco signed the contract of services for an additional health officer for the town.

Frasco said that his municipal government now has two doctors but the latest addition will be tasked to recommend health measures, and conduct clinics at the municipal health center.

The mayor had put more attention to the granting of health services to his constituents. At least 1,000 families have already enrolled in the Philhealth indigency program of the town.

The number represents not only the families, sponsored by the Liloan municipal government, but also the 1,000 families, sponsored by the provincial government, said municipal social welfare officer Manuela Paglinawan.

Paglinawan said the indigent families could avail themselves of free services at Philhealth accredited hospitals. Her office serves everyday an average of 12 patients, who are accorded either direct treatment or referrals to bigger institutions.

The Municipal Social Welfare Office of Liloan has a budget of P100,000 per quarter. Last February, Paglinawan said her office had released P17, 000 to help the families in crisis.

The Office of the Mayor also extends similar assistance. Frasco has put up P100,000 at the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center and P130,000 at the Eversley Hospital where indigent patients from his town can now seek medical help. — Garry B. Lao/RAE
