Del Mar: I'm not impressed by Mary Ann's credentials

-

CEBU, Philippines - Cebu City north district Rep. Raul del Mar said he is unimpressed by the credentials of Lahug barangay captain Mary Ann delos Santos who is running for his position against his daughter Rachel “Cutie” del Mar.

Both Delos Santos and Cutie filed their Certificates of Candidacy the other day.

But after the Comelec received the CoC of Delos Santos she immediately questioned the educational background and experience of her rival, challenging her to reveal her credentials.

Delos Santos proudly revealed her educational background, experience and achievements to reporters after she filed her CoC.

Among the achievements she mentioned was receiving the most outstanding barangay captain and lupon tagapamayapa award in the country and being awarded by the city government as the most outstanding individual in the field of public service.

She also said she studied at the University of San Carlos and earned a degree of Bachelor of Science in Political Science and proceeded to the USC Law School.

Delos Santos completed her law studies and a few months ago she was given an award by USC as the most outstanding alumna in the field of leadership.

The barangay captain said that educational attainment and experience are very important for a candidate seeking a congressional seat.

“Importante kaayo na kay sultian ta mo, tug-anan ta mo nga ang posisyon nga among gitinguha nanginahanglan og kinaadman, kinahanglan og igong katakus kinahanglan og edukasyon og nanginahanglan og eksperyinsya,” Delos Santos said.

But Rep. Del Mar said he is unimpressed by her credentials.

Del Mar said that Cutie studied in the Cebu International School in her elementary years, Saint Theresa’s College for high school and the University of the Philippines Cebu College.

Cutie, however, was not able to graduate in UP Cebu since she was hired by her father as his chief of staff in Manila during her third year.

After two years del Mar said that Cutie wanted to pursue Hotel and Restaurant Management in UP Dilliman only to find out that she has to go back to first year.

“Naa man diay policy ang UP nga kung dili ka mutiwas sulod sa duha ka tuig nga leave of absence, pabalikon ka nila sa first year,” Del Mar said.

For this reason, Cutie had to come home and took Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communication at the University of San Jose-Recoletos and graduated cum laude.

Speaking on her experience, the congressman said that Cutie was his chief of staff for over two years and she is already conversant and familiar with the work of a representative.

Del Mar added that Cutie was also once an actress in Manila and is a good program host and graceful dancer.

The congressman also challenged Delos Santos to disclose her programs and platforms and they will counter with theirs.

“Sige lang diay ta ani og sinuklianay, sige lang diay og tinubagay, paprisintaha na siya sa iyang mga programa, unya mo-prisinta sab mi sa amo, unya ang mga tawo na ang mohukom unya atol sa eleksyon,” Del Mar said.

The congressman assured that Cutie will face the media in due time and will answer all the questions that they would like to ask. – Elly Bolonos/BRP   (FREEMAN NEWS)
