Indicted

The Bogo City Prosecutor’s Office has recommended no bail for a 31-year-old teacher, who was arrested for allegedly selling shabu in a buy-bust operation last week.

Police Inspector Joseph Mangle, police chief of Madridejos, said Pablito Miro was charged last Monday for violating Sections 5 and 11, Article II of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act.

In an inquest proceeding, Miro, who is teaching senior high school students in a private school in Barangay Poblacion, Madridejos, chose not to undergo preliminary investigation to answer the allegations filed against him and instead manifested to face the charges in court.

Mangle said Miro is temporarily detained at the police detention cell in Madridejos.

Miro allegedly sells shabu to his students and also asks them to deliver drugs to buyers.

Madridejos police conducted a buy-bust operation on January 24 in Barangay Pili leading to the arrest of Miro. Four small sachets of suspected shabu were recovered from his possession.

Aside from Miro, five students were caught having a drug session, namely; Stephen Diongson, 18, a resident of Barangay Pili; Jelson Villaceran Medalle, 18, of Barangay Malbago; Michael Gidayawan, 18, of Barangay Poblacion; Czar Brian Lim, 18, and Salvador Atim, 18, both from Barangay Bunakan.

The drug session was discovered after Miro ran towards a small shanty, after he sensed that he was dealing with a police officer.

Mangle said four of the five students are facing charges for violating Section 12 (possession of drugs paraphernalia), Article II of R.A. 9165, while one will be charged for violating Section 15 (use of dangerous drugs) of the same act.

The cases filed against the students are bailable offenses. —Mylen P. Manto, and Mark Roland A. Romas (FREEMAN)
