Talisay facility closed for ‘illegal backfilling’
CEBU, Philippines — Talisay City Mayor Eduardo Gullas has issued an executive order for the immediate closure of an establishment in Barangay San Roque, Talisay due to their illegal backfilling activities.
In Executive Order Number 56 series of 2017, Gullas has put a stop of the business establishment owned by Julius Inocencio with a total land area of 6,868 square meters.
The City Council, including the (Special Local Economic and Development Area (SLEDA) Board, conducted a conference and recommended the immediate closure of the establishment.
This, after the Office of the Zoning Administrator and Office of the Building Official issued several notices for violations of the said establishment.
Talisay City Executive Secretary Dr. Jomar Rubio said that a portion of the property was used to display car and trucks.
City Planning Head Engr. Audi Bacasmas disclosed that the establishment has failed to secure a backfilling, fencing, building and business permit from the city.
Despite the fact that the city has previously issued a cease and desist order last year, the company reportedly continued their backfilling activities.
Bacasmas said that he cannot recall when the owner coordinated with the city to address the issue.
He added that they tried to reach out to the owner but whenever they went to the area, they failed to even enter the establishment.
"Kanang area katunggan, uban tubig. Wala silay development permit. Gi-servan notice of violation, wala gyud sila ni-stop. Di ko kahinumdum nga ni-contact sila. Dili man sila ma-contact kay dili man makasulod inig serve sa notice. Hangtod nga gibutangan structures, wala sila nilukat ug building ug business permit," he said.
On Thursday, representatives from the engineering department, city planning, licensing and legal offices accompanied by Talisay City policemen went to the area to serve the cessation of operations and closure order. (FREEMAN)
