Sinanduloy to dance as guest performer

CEBU, Philippines — To continue the pilgrimage of Tangub City to the Holy Child Jesus, its Sinanduloy Cultural Troupe will be one of the guest performers in tomorrow’s Sinulog Grand Parade.

Jojin Pascual, choreographer of the dance troupe, said this was after Cebu City Mayor Tomas Osmeña requested Tangub City Mayor Philip Tan to perform even if the city is not sending its contingent this year.

“We will have a very solemn nga presentation. Wala'y saba because we will be using a keyboard and not drum and bugle. This is a package as an opening prayer and opening presentation,” Pascual told The FREEMAN.

Pascual said the group will present the fulfillment of the promise of heaven if you believe in the Holy Child just like the presentation in the Sinulog 2016 Grand Parade.

He said the group will always feel welcome knowing that many people will always look forward to the presentation of Sinanduloy Cultural Troupe.

“We never intended to do a presentation at the Cebu City Sports Center. We are here for the mall shows para naay continue sa among presence every Sinulog and we don’t want to stop expressing our devotion to the Holy Child,” he added.

Pascual said Tangub City has 35 dancers only to perform on Sunday.

He said Tangub City Government is still busy with their preparations for the 50th anniversary of the city next month, which is one of the main reasons why it has not sent a contingent in this year’s Sinulog.

Tangub City has always been the crowd favorite and holds the most number of titles, with 12 under their belt in the 20 years of joining the competition.

It has gained the grand champion in the Sinulog Grand parade in the years 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2013, and 2017.

Pascual vowed that the group will have a comeback next year, Sinulog 2019.

The group arrived last Tuesday from Tangub City. They have performed at Robinsons Galleria last Wednesday and at Parkmall last Thursday.

Yesterday, Pascual said the group has also presented at the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and Casino in Barangay Lahug.

He said the group will also perform in Ayala Center Cebu tomorrow evening after their presentation at the Cebu City Sports Center. (FREEMAN)
