PNP to NTC: Shut down phone signal during Sinulog
The national police headquarters in Camp Crame has recommended shutting down mobile phone signal as part of security measures for the celebration of Sinulog this year.
Outgoing Police Regional Office-7 Director Chief Superintendent Jose Mario Espino confirmed the recommendation.
Espino earlier told reporters he will not be recommending a signal shutdown in the absence of terroristic threats monitored by the intelligence units.
Cebu City Councilor Dave Tumulak, deputy mayor for police matters and chairman of the Sinulog executive committee, said shutting down cellular signals will boost security.
Authorities declined to disclose the parameters of the shutdown as a protocol. /JMD
