CEBU, Philippines — Thirteen days after a huge fire that hit Metro Gaisano Ayala compelled its store and the whole mall to close, Ayala Center Cebu is set to reopen today and the Cebuanos are getting excited about it.

The announcement released by the management through its official Facebook page received an overwhelming response from netizens, especially to its loyal mall goers.

"Ayala Center Cebu will be open to the public tomorrow (today), January 18, 2018," read the online statement posted yesterday noon.

"We are thankful to be able to welcome and celebrate with the community in time for the Fiesta Señor," the post also wrote.

Ayala mall’s online post reached thousands of social media users with numerous comments and it generated at least 8,900 reactions, as of 8 p.m. yesterday.

Revelers may also come to witness a spectacular fireworks display on January 21 at 9 p.m.

This pronouncement was the same messages shared by lawyer Jeanette Japzon, corporate communications manager of Ayala Land Inc. and Cebu Holdings Inc.

She said the main mall, including the stores and resto’s inside, is set to open today at its usual time every 10 a.m.

But other entry and exit points are still closed, particularly those near the damaged Metro, the department store attached to the mall where the fire started and spread through the nearby interiors.

"Although, there will be areas near Metro which will not be accessible yet," she said. (FREEMAN)
