Police: Suspect in Talisay killing is a notorious robber

CEBU, Philippines — The suspect in the killing of a 24-year-old woman at a lodge in Talisay City last Thursday is a notorious robber, according to Talisay City police.

Police Officer 2 Edwin Campomanes of Talisay City Police Station said that suspect Jarry Parba has a standing warrant of arrest issued on November 2016 for robbery and a case for a violation against the Anti-Violence Against Women and Children Act.

It was reported that Parba killed his girlfriend, Ronabeb Cabuenas, a resident of Sitio Mananga 2, Barangay Tabunok inside a lodge in Barangay Lagtang on Thursday dawn.

Initial investigation reveals that Parba entered the lodge at around 1:30 a.m. while Cabuenas followed around 2 a.m. Minutes later, a gunshots were heard by the caretakers of the establishment.

After shooting Cabuenas, Parba immediately left the crime scene. His escape was captured on the lodge's CCTV camera.

After the incident was reported, Talisay police went to Parba's residence to arrest him but did not find him there.

Cabuenas suffered a gunshot wound to the chest. She was brought to Talisay City District Hospital but was declared dead on arrival.

A cashier of the lodge who requested anonymity said that the two had been having an argument before the incident.

Police believe that jealousy is the primary motive behind the shooting.

They have recovered one deformed slug of unidentified caliber from the crime scene.

Police said they are preparing to file a case against the suspect who remains at large as follow-up investigation continues. (FREEMAN)
