Provincial government hires 24 CPDRC watchmen

The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines — The Cebu provincial government hired 24 new watchmen who will serve in the Cebu Provincial Detention and Rehabilitation Center (CPDRC) to ensure that the facility is secured.

CPDRC Assistant Warden Audesti Miguel requested for additional men to secure the provincial jail facility after he sees the need to increase the manpower to watch over more than 3,600 inmates, a population which is over twice the ideal capacity of the jail.

Originally, Miguel requested for 50 watchmen and 15 were already deployed last month. Hiring will continue until the 50 slots will be filled.

Before this year ends, the additional 24 men are expected to report on duty.

They are just complying with the requirements set by the Human Resource Department.

On the 25th and 26th of this month, each inmate is allowed to have a maximum of three visitors because it is their family day.

The management expects a crowd of around 10,000 visitors.

With the expected volume of people, Provincial Human Resource Management Office (HRMO) Head Bhobby Nacorda said it would be better for CPDRC employees not to take a leave on these two days.

Aside from the new watchmen, the HRMO also considers the possibility to pull out Capitol employees from other departments to help in the securing the jail.

These employees will be from the Civil Security Unit (CSU) and some blue guards from the General Services Office. (FREEMAN)
