Ermida Q. Moradas - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines — A 16-year-old boy was brought to the hospital after he was accidentally shot by his younger brother in their residence in Barangay Don Pedro Rodriguez, Bogo City on Saturday evening.

Senior Police Officer 1 Alexis Camelo Villacrucis of Bogo City Police said that the victim was allegedly playing with an improvised .22 caliber firearm together with his 14-year-old brother when suddenly his younger brother aimed the gun at him and accidentally pulled the trigger.

The victim sustained a single gunshot wound to his chest and was immediately rushed to the nearest hospital for treatment and later transferred to a hospital in Cebu City.

Villacrucis said that the improvised .22 caliber was owned by the uncle of the victim.

Allegedly, both the victim and his younger brother did not know that it was a real gun they were playing with, nor that the gun was loaded.

The family of the two boys reported the incident to the police.

The police are now conducting a follow-up investigation regarding the incident. —/JBB (FREEMAN)
