CSC asks public to nominate outstanding government workers

May B. Miasco - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines — The Civil Service Commission (CSC) – 7 is inviting any individual or entity to participate in the newly-reopened search for outstanding government workers by nominating a government official or employee who showed exemplary government service.

“What better way to increase these role models in number than to recognize them for others to imitate the same,” said Prolaine Daclan, chief personnel specialist of CSC-7, in an interview with The FREEMAN.

Anybody can nominate, either from private or public, or officemate as long as he or she has “extensive knowledge of the nominee’s accomplishments.”

“Yes, anyone can nominate but the submitted nominations will have to undergo a thorough process of deliberation and evaluation whether it shall be endorsed to CSC regional office,” she added.

Nominations will be forwarded to the Programs on Awards and Incentives for Service Excellence (PRAISE) committee of the respective agencies that will deliberate the submitted entries and endorse those who met the qualifications or requirements.

Among the basic qualifications are: (1) having at least three continuous years of government service; (2) having a very satisfactory rating for the previous two years; and (3) not found guilty of any administrative or criminal offense involving moral turpitude.

The deadline for the 2018 search is set on March 30 next year and the awarding will be in September in time for the CSC anniversary.

Since the reopening of the search on November 2, the CSC Regional Office has not received any nomination yet.

“We would encourage everyone, both government employees and private individuals, to submit a nomination if they spot a government worker whom they believe shows excellence or ethical behavior,” she said.

“If they have difficulty in preparing for their nominations, feel free to reach out to CSC field offices or regional office, and we are more than willing to assist you,” she assured.

The search for outstanding government workers started in 1987. (FREEMAN)
