19 wanted persons arrested in Carcar City

Ermida Q. Moradas - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines — Nineteen wanted personalities have been arrested in Carcar City 19 days since the assumption of the new police chief, Chief Inspector Randy Korret.

Korret, who assumed his post last October 2, said that one of his objectives is going after personalities with arrest warrants in Carcar City.

"Actually nakikita ko dito is tumataas dito ang theft at robbery so, tiningnan ko ‘yung warrant of arrest marami doon may mga robbery ‘tsaka theft kaya sabi ko ubusin ‘yung lahat ng may warrant dahil baka isa din sila sa mga suspect ng mga lungkab incident, eventually, ‘yung mostly sa mga nahuhuli ngayon namin ay ‘yun pang sa rape, murder," said Korret.

The arrested wanted personalities were Roniel Gemota, Virjion Tanilon, Joan Lauron, Ritchien Amistad, Rowel Alegarbes, Roberto Abayabay, Melvin Tangarorang, Gerwin Alinsugay, Christopher Paras, Nolly Barawidan, Julie Calibo Jr., Kevin Regalado, Geosoflor Lawas, Arman Genelaso, Marco Descallar, Edcel Jabaybay, Antonio Brejildo, Vincent Edroso, and Ronel Brejildo.

They had warrants for offenses ranging from traffic violations to heinous crimes.

Korret added that they are now coordinating with the courts for the quick release of arrest warrants for wanted people.

He also said even if the PNP can no longer carry out anti-illegal drug operations they will continue the intelligence monitoring of those identified as drug personalities in Carcar City and send information to the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency.

Korret advised all wanted personalities in Carcar City to just give themselves up.

"Mag-surrender na lang sila sa amin at least kung bailable ang kaso nila ay puwede naman silang mag-bail, and then para gumulong na din ang justice sa mga victims," said Korret. (FREEMAN)
