Truck runs over man
CEBU, Philippines — A 48-year-old man died after he was run over by a Prime mover truck while on board his motorcycle in A. C. Cortes Avenue, Mandaue City Friday afternoon.
Police Officer 3 Rosendo Ortalla Jr., traffic investigator, said Alfredo Navarro of Kalubihan, Poblacion Pardo, Cebu City, was on his way to Cebu City when the incident happened.
Ortalla said Navarro had a quick stop at the road side by a street corner to fix his raincoat when the truck, which was pulling a trailer, came out from the street.
Ortalla said that the back portion of the truck hit Navarro, who fell down and got run over at the upper portion of his body.
Truck driver Pedro Camingue, 37, said that he did not notice the victim because of poor visibility due to a heavy downpour.
Navarro was rushed to the hospital but was declared dead on arrival by the attending physician.
Camingue, on the other hand, is currently under the custody of the Mandaue City police and will be facing a criminal complaint of reckless imprudence resulting in homicide. (FREEMAN)
