Korean national indicted for drug possession

Mylen P. Manto - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines — The Cebu City Prosecutor's Office has indicted a Korean national for alleged possession of dangerous drugs.

Prosecutor Jill Ann Paculba-Gealon has found probable cause to hold Seung Jae Lee, 34, temporarily staying at Hernan Cortez St., Subangdaku, Mandaue City, for trial for violation of Section 11, Article II of Republic Act 9165 or Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act.

The accused waived his right to preliminary investigation and opted to face the charges directly in court. The prosecutor’s office recommended P200,000 bail for his temporary liberty.

Lee was arrested by the operatives of Police Station 2 in the evening of August 30 inside a pension house during a buy-bust operation against Mailyn Carbonilla. According to the police, the Korean was found inside the room of Carbonilla holding a pack of shabu.

Carbonilla’s live-in partner, Jeffrey Cabalquinto, was first arrested by the police. Cabalquinto confessed to the police that his live-in partner is also involved in the illegal drug trade, prompting a follow up operation. Separate charges have been filed against Carbonilla and Cabalquinto. (FREEMAN)
