Brgy captain happy over drainage fund

Iris Mariani B. Algabre - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines – The barangay captain of Tanke, Talisay City is thankful that her barangay was included in the P68-million drainage project of First District Representative Gerald Anthony “Samsam” Gullas.

Barangay Captain Perla Cabanes said she is happy that her barangay was allocated P18 million. Aside from Tanke, the other barangays are Poblacion and Cansojong. Poblacion got P30 million while Cansojong was allocated P20 million.

Cabanes is hopeful that the drainage project will already solve their flooding problem which they have experienced in the past years. She is also thankful that the city legal office is addressing the problem of the property affected by the project.

According to Cabanes, the drainage project in Sitio Rattan is already long overdue. In fact, former mayor Socrates Fernandez tried to implement it in 2007 but was opposed by the claimants of the affected lot.

"Sa amo barangay amo paninguhaon kanang kilid sa among barangay hall nga until now wala pa naresolba tungod naay nangangkon ana yutaa. Basin maresolba nana sa atong city attorney. Manghinaot mi nga masulbad and problema para i-apil sa budget para sa tanke," Cabanes said.

Gullas had already met with the barangay captains and officials of the Department of Public Works and Highways to discuss the project. —/FPL (FREEMAN)
