CEBU, Philippines - A total of 112 illegal gambling machines were destroyed yesterday at the parade grounds of Cebu Provincial Police Office (CPPO) in Sudlon, Barangay Lahug, Cebu City.

The destruction of the video karera machines was led by Police Regional Office Director Police Chief Superintendent Jose Mario Espino, Cebu Provincial Police Office Director Police Superintendent Eric Noble, and Regional Intelligence Division Chief Police Superintendent Jonathan Cabal.

The illegal gambling machines were seized in several surprise raids and operations conducted by different police stations in the province of Cebu from January 2017 to June 2017.

At least 27 units of illegal gambling machines were seized during Provincial Public Safety Company (PPSC) operations; 10 units from Naga City police operations; 38 units from Provincial Intelligence Branch (PIB); seven from Consolacion; 20 from Talisay City police; and 10 units from the operation of the Regional Special Operations Group (RSOG).

Espino said that the destruction of the illegal gambling machines shows the relentless campaign of the PNP not only against illegal drugs but also against all forms of illegal gambling activities.

The machines were smashed into pieces by a backhoe.

Chiefs of police from different police stations in Cebu Province were also present to witness the destruction of the machines. (FREEMAN)
