CEBU, Philippines - The Danao City Police Station launched a “Police Mini Me” program, which aims to inspire and encourage the youths to become a police officer someday.

The program was launched Wednesday in partnership with the Danao City Science and Technology Education Center.

At least 10 senior high school students were chosen as the first “Police Mini Me” in Danao City.

Chief Inspector Gerard Ace Pelare, city police chief, said the chosen students were given the chance to become the mini chief of police, mini deputy chief of police, mini chief of administration, mini chief of intelligence, mini chief of operation, mini police spokesperson, mini chief supply, mini chief traffic, mini chief investigator, mini desk officer, mini chief of police community relation (PCR), and mini chief of women and children’s protection desk (WCPD).

The students took the respective roles for a day.

Police Chief Inspector Janette Rafter, Cebu Provincial Police Office spokesperson, said the program is laudable for inspiring young individuals to serve and protect the country and its people.

“Nindot kaayo nga ma-motivate sila sa kato nga activity. Ma-develop ilang sense of leadership, sense of responsibility. It’s a way of instilling in their minds nga makatabang sila sa society bisan pa man og students pa sila and in the future join the PNP,” Rafter said in a phone interview with The FREEMAN. Rafter hopes that the program could be replicated in other parts of the province.  (FREEMAN)
