CEBU, Philippines - A 28-year-old man left behind his motorcycle after he refused to be inspected by the guard of a bus terminal in Cebu City Wednesday afternoon.

It turned out Aldren John Bayno Bayaton of Sitio Guibunagan, Barili, Cebu allegedly had with him a paper bag containing 120 small packs and two medium packs of suspected shabu when flagged by a security guard.

The packs of suspected shabu were packed inside soap boxes while two more sachets were found in his motorcycle compartment.

Weighing a total of 31.5 grams, the suspected drugs were estimated to be worth P371,000.

The guard said Bayaton approached him to have a package delivered to a certain Lola Gabina in Sitio Tayong, Barili.

However, when the security guard told the suspect to submit the package for inspection, the former refused. After a while, Bayaton allegedly confided to the guard that the package contained shabu and the suspect then attempted to bribe him.

The guard pretended to cooperate but he was only holding on to the suspect as he reported him to the terminal management.

He immediately called the police but Bayaton fled the scene before responding officers from Abellana Police Station arrived.

Based on initial investigation, the suspect was a high-value level 3 target and operates as a courier of a drug group in Cebu.  As of press time, the police were still conducting hot pursuit operation.

“This kind of immediate action and accomplishment should send a strong signal to those who have been reportedly engaged in this illegal drug trade that the arms of the law, at some point in the future, will reach them,” said Chief Inspector Ma Theresa Macatangay of Abellana Police Station, in a press statement.
