Police still clueless on rob-slay suspects

The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - The Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) – Crime Scene Investigation Unit yesterday turned over the remaining P274,735 from the company accountant that was robbed and killed last Saturday at the South Road Properties (SRP).

Senior Inspector Ryan Devaras, CCPO’s Chief of Investigation and Detective Management Branch, said his team is still conducting a follow-up investigation regarding the getaway vehicle used by the suspects.

Aside from the estimated 20 employees that were absent a day before the incident, Devaras said they are also investigating the company’s security guard and driver.

The four suspects are still unidentified after the police have coordinated with security managers.

Footages of the closed circuit television cameras surrounding the crime scene did not help so much, since the images depicted were from 100 meters away.

Yesterday, representatives from the Visayas Construction (VISCON) firm together with the family members of the victim, Jennilyn Aquino, 25, who is a native from Bulacan, met and discussed updates on the investigation surrounding the incident.

Based on the witnesses, there were four perpetrators who took part in the day-time robbery.

Mambaling Police Station Chief Eduard Sanchez said that two of the suspects served as lookouts, while the other two took the money from the victim's backpack.

The suspects shot her three times, after she refused to give the back pack.

The suspects fled with P485,265 from the 760,000 Aquino had withdrawn that afternoon.

The empty shells recovered in the crime scene will be submitted for ballistic examination.

Aquino has been an accountant for a long time and she was just deployed in Cebu 11 months ago.  She was about to marry her boyfriend, Teodorico dela Cruz, next year.

A family member is hoping that the police would be able to bring justice to them and the victim.

Devaras added that the police are now investigating on the follow-up reports regarding the possible suspects and the identification of the getaway vehicle used during the heist. — Niña Lyka G. Modelo, Robee Ryan T. Isabelo (FREEMAN)
