The fatality was identified as David Gesapini, 16, of Barangay Caleryohan, Dalaguete town, a student of the Caleryohan National High School, while his companion was identified as Cristian Cejudo, 18, of Barangay Dugyan, Dalaguete.

At the time of the accident both were on a motorcycle driven by Cejudo on their way to their summer job as service crew at Sula's Eatery in Moalboal.

The victims were nearing the Moalboal Town Center when Geronimo Samontañez, 33, who was traveling from Badian to Moalboal, lost control of his Isuzu Canter truck due to the road made slippery by recent rain.
