Over P1M drugs seized in Talisay
CEBU, Philippines - The police seized more than P1 million worth of suspected shabu in two separate buy-bust operations in Barangay Tangke, Talisay City, Cebu Saturday afternoon.
The first operation was in Sitio Tuba around 4 p.m. that led to the arrest of Robelyn “Belyn” Mangaron, 36, a resident of the place.
The police said they received several reports on Mangaron, whom they said was a known drug personality in the place, selling drugs in the area so they conducted a buy-bust on her.
Aside from a small transparent triangle pack she handed to the poseur buyer for the P200 marked money, she also yielded another triangular pack and three medium packs of suspected shabu. Mangaron was an Oplan Tokhang surrenderer.
A relative was also arrested during the operation after he was caught with a pack of shabu.
During interrogation, Mangaron confessed that her supplier was a certain “Christian”, who was also operating in the area.
Around 11 p.m., the police proceeded to the fish port at the South Road Properties for another buy-bust operation, this time targeting Christian “Istan” Cabungcal of Sitio Kamagong, Barangay Lahug, Cebu City.
He was handcuffed after handing to the poseur buyer a large pack of suspected shabu in exchange for P500 in marked money placed on top of “bodol” money.
The police said the pack weighed around 90 grams and was worth around P1.06 million.
Superintendent Emerson Dante, Talisay City police chief, said Cabungcal was a “big-time” drug pusher.
Dante said Cabungcal’s supplier nicknamed “big boss” tried to settle through cellphone with the police for Cabungcal’s release but was turned down.
The suspect is currently detained at the Talisay City police station pending the filing of charges against him. —/ RHM (FREEMAN)
