CEBU, Philippines - Exciting football action continues with the staging of the 1st Hyundai Cup on March 3-5 at the Fr. Julian Hernando field of  Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu in Barangay Canduman, Mandaue City.

Hyundai-Cebu COO Kenneth Tan said during the event's formal launching yesterday that they came up with this invitational tournament because they want to help in developing new talents through the under-15 division.

Five teams will be seeing action in the three-day tilt led by the Futbol Funatics, the youth team of Forza FC in the United Football League (UFL).

The local contenders are the University of San Carlos, Don Bosco Technology Center, Paref-Springdale and host SHS-Ateneo de Cebu. Caececent No-ot Magsumbol

They will play in an 11-a-side, single-round robin format. The winner will be based on points system.

“We are also planning to have another event before the year ends with football personalities here,” said Tan.

Aside from that, Hyundai is also hoping to have a “champion’s league” of their own as their company has branches in Cagayan de Oro, Dumaguete, Tagbilaran and Tacloban. (FREEMAN)
