Two "drug pushers" arrested in Lapu-Lapu
CEBU, Philippines - Two persons were arrested in a buy-bust operation in separate areas in Lapu-Lapu City.
Police Inspector Rex Ibañez, deputy commander of Gun-ob Police Station, said 30-year-old Winston Amancio was arrested around 12:40 a.m., Thursday, after a short transaction with a poseur buyer.
Ibañez said that police received complaints from several concerned citizens about Amancio's alleged illegal drug trade in Purok Five Star, Barangay Babag.
Police confiscated from Amancio a sachet of suspected shabu.
Amancio did not resist arrest.
Prior to Amancio's arrest, Ibañez said Jonathan Soroño, 36, was arrested in Zone Pansat, Barangay Calawisan around 8:30 p.m., Wednesday.
Soroño, a resident in the area, reportedly has drug patrons coming in and out of his house.
Ibañez said they conducted an operation wherein they apprehended Soroño, who yielded five small sachets of shabu stored inside a plastic container tucked in his waist.
Amancio and Soroño are detained at the Lapu-Lapu City Police Office-holding cell and will face charges for violating Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. (FREEMAN)
