Oplan Tokhang goes to CPDRC
CEBU, Philippines - At least 500 inmates of Cebu Provincial Detention and Rehabilitation Center were subjected to Operation Tokhang yesterday morning.
Senior Inspector Zosimo Jabas, chief of the Provincial Public Safety Company, said it was the first time that Oplan Tokhang was conducted inside the jail facility. The inmates, clad in their orange uniform, were asked to gather at the chapel inside the CPDRC where they were lectured on the illegal drug program.
"Seryoso ni nga programa, dili ni for compliance. Ato ni gibuhat sa gawas bisan private na village, gisud, gi-tokhang," Jabas told the inmates.
He said the 500 inmates were identified as "high-valued prisoners" who are believed to have continued their illegal drug operations even inside the jail. CPDRC has a population of 2,933 inmates at present.
Jabas asked the inmates to cooperate and voluntarily stop their illegal activities. He said 60 percent or 1,705 inmates in CPDRC are facing drug charges.
The police decided to bring Oplan Tokhang inside the jail facility following recent raid where several packs of shabu and cash were found from the inmates. (FREEMAN)
