Traffic czar mulls towing in Talisay

Iris Mariani B. Algabre - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - Talisay City traffic chief Hiram Binatiro has recommended to hire the services of a private towing firm to clear the highways from illegally-parked vehicles.

Binatiro, head of the City of Talisay-Traffic Operation Development Authority (CT-TODA), said he had observed that most drivers park their vehicles in prohibited areas disregarding traffic signs.

"Bisa’g dako kaayo ang mga signage gahi gihapon kaayo og mga ulo. Helpless ba ang atong mga enforcer so better nga naa gyu'y towing truck," Benatiro said.

The CT-TODA council requested Mayor Eduardo Gullas to enter into a contract with a private towing company. The proposal was also submitted before the Talisay City Council. Binatiro said towing illegally-parked vehicles can help solve the traffic problem in the city.

Binatiro is also requesting vehicles for CT-TODA personnel. He said the traffic office does not have vehicles for their operation. Binatiro is asking at least one unit of multicab and two motorcycles. (FREEMAN)
