‘Handcuffed’ man found dead
CEBU, Philippines - An unidentified man was found dead with his hands handcuffed along the road at the North Reclamation Area in Barangay Subangdaku, Mandaue City yesterday dawn.
Senior Police Officer 2 Remegio Arciaga of the Subangdaku Police Station told The FREEMAN that the man, who was about five feet tall and believed to be around 20 years old, was found dead past 1 a.m. yesterday along Zuellig Avenue.
The man was wearing cargo pants and a shirt with black and blue stripes, and his hands were locked with a handcuff. He apparently suffered a gunshot wound to his head.
According to Arciaga, the body was discovered by a certain Joel Senados, a security guard at a nearby logistics company.
Prior to finding the victim, Senados reportedly heard a gunshot somewhere while stationed at the guardhouse that morning. When he came to check the area, he then found the man's body slumped on the ground and reported the incident to the police.
Subangdaku police are still investigating whether the killing was related to drugs. They recovered from the crime scene an empty shell from a .45 caliber pistol.
Arciaga said that as part of their follow-up investigation, they will check the footages captured by the surveillance cameras of the Mandaue City Command Center.
Arciaga added that the body was brought to St. Francis Funeral Homes in Cebu City for autopsy. (FREEMAN)
