2 Talisay fire trucks unserviceable
CEBU, Philippines - Two out of the five fire trucks of Talisay City could not be used during emergencies because of damaged water pumps.
Talisay City fire marshal Randy Mendaros said he already requested the national office for assistance but until now no funds has been released.
Mendaros said the two unserviceable fire trucks are very much needed to cover all fire emergencies in the city.
He said one of the remaining fire trucks is also being used as ambulance because the two ambulances are also indisposed.
Mendaros said he needed the two fire trucks to be repaired immediately so that it can be stationed strategically.
“Ang ato gyung plano ana kanang sa Tabunok ato gyud nang butangan og usa kay naa diha ang trapik so dali ra siyang maka-respondi,” Mendaros said.
Mayor Eduardo “Eddiegul” Gullas said he will request assistance from his grandson, Cebu first district Representative Gerald Anthony “Samsam” Gullas, to facilitate the purchase of additional fire trucks for the city.
Eddiegul said that he already informed Samsam about the problem since Congress is starting the budget hearing for the 2017 Annual Budget.
Although the city government can afford to buy fire trucks, Eddiegul said it would be better to use the national budget so the local funds can be utilized in other projects.
Eddiegul said he plans to have fire trucks that are capable to respond to emergencies in areas that have narrow access.
“Gagmay ang atong dalan, kailangan makasud ang hose unya taas pud to be able to reach,” he said.
He assured that that city government will purchase new ambulance to replace the two that are under repair. (FREEMAN)
