Woman motorcycle driver killed in Carcar mishap
CEBU, Philippines - A 21-year-old girl was killed after the motorcycle she was driving hit a tree apparently because she was distracted when her backrider touched her private parts.
The police responded to the vehicular accident and saw the body of Rachille Lapaz on the road at Sitio Bantayan, Barangay Tuyom, Carcar City Wednesday around 10:30 p.m.
The victim was immediately brought to the Carcar District hospital, but was declared dead on arrival.
Investigation revealed that the victim and the backrider, Arnel Wabinga, were drinking at Lapaz's house that afternoon before the incident.
Police Officer 1 Ariel Yap said that after the accident, Wabinga immediately fled the scene.
In a follow-up operation conducted by police, Wabinga voluntarily confessed that during the incident, while Lapaz was driving the motorcycle, he intentionally touched the victim's private parts.
But the motorcycle then sped straight, moving to the other lane then hitting a cacao tree.
Yap said the motorcycle was owned by Sergio Ogar, a neighbor of the victim. The vehicle did not have a plate number yet since it was just purchased three months ago.
Yap also disclosed that the victim and the backrider were relatives.
Wabinga is now detained at the police station. (FREEMAN)
