Cebu officials to take oath as PDP-Laban members

CEBU, Philippines - Local officials in Cebu are expected to take oath as new PDP-Laban members on August 27 at the Sacred Heart Center in Cebu City.

The Office of the Presidential Assistant for Central Visayas said that House Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez will administer the oathtaking ceremony.

Cebu City officials headed by Vice Mayor Edgardo Labella and the winning city councilors under Team Rama will be sworn in as new members of the ruling PDP-Laban.

Team Rama headed by its defeated mayoralty candidate Michael Rama then supported the presidential bid of former Vice President Jejomar Binay.

Mandaue City Mayor Gabriel Luis "Luigi" Quisumbing and his city councilors will also join the oathtaking, as well as Cebu Sixth District Board Member Jonkie Ouano.

Quisumbing's Team Mandaue Labaw Kanako had supported the presidential bid of Mar Roxas.

Some officials from Cebu's Third District (Aloguinsan, Pinamungajan, Barili and Toledo City) will also join the bandwagon.

It was learned that the mayors of Aloguinsan, Pinamungajan and Barili, together with their municipal councilors and presidents of the Association of Barangay Captains, will also swear as new members of PDP-Laban.

But Toledo City Mayor John Henry Osmeña, who earlier supported Binay, will not join the oathtaking ceremony, only some of his councilors.

Meanwhile, no one from the Team Rama confirmed or denied the report. —/NSA (FREEMAN)
