Man shot dead by ‘vigilantes’

Mylen P. Manto - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - A 38-year-old carpenter was shot dead Saturday dawn by two unidentified motorcycle-riding gunmen in Sitio Candahuan, Barangay Talamban, Cebu City.

The victim, Rogil Nudalo, a native of San Francisco town, was drinking with two of his friends outside a store when the unidentified assailants came and shot him several times.

Crime scene investigators found four empty shells for 9mm and a cardboard with the words "Pusher/Carnapper/Akyat Bahay ng CCDS" written on it.

The cardboard found in the crime scene suggested that the perpetrators were members of the vigilantes. However, Police Officer 1 Alcindor Suico, desk officer of Talamban Police Station, said the victim was not in their list of suspected drug pushers operating within their area of jurisdiction.

Homicide investigators are now looking at the possibility that the markings were meant to mislead the police. (FREEMAN)
