Quisumbing asks public to use social media to report violations

Christell Fatima M. Tudtud - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - Mandaue City Mayor Luigi Quisumbing is urging the public to make use of social media platforms to report violations they see within the city.

"We encourage people to post or report any violations. We really do need the help of the public," Quisumbing said.

During the start of his term, Quisumbing has ordered for the strict implementing of traffic and solid waste management laws.   Quisumbing aims to make the city a "traffic discipline zone."

The mayor explained that the reports they will be receiving online will be sent to the concerned agencies so that immediate actions will be made.

So far, majority of the complaints his administration has received involve traffic issues, solid waste management and peace and order in the city.

"Rest assured nga ang inyong gi-message nga report of violation ma-forward dayon sa concerned office," he said.

On the other hand, Quisumbing is apologizing to netizens whom he has not immediately responded to online since he said he receives a lot of messages in his Facebook account everyday.

Early this month, the Traffic Enforcement Agency of Mandaue (TEAM) confiscated signboards from jeepneys that pass through the city heading to the towns of Consolacion and Liloan after receiving reports that jeepney drivers do trip-cutting.

Glenn Antigua, TEAM chief, said in a recent report that most of the complaints they received came from netizens which is why they launched the Facebook page "Bantay Mandaue-TEAM".

"We need your help to be our eyes in the City!  #noblindspotsinthedisciplinezone," Quisumbing said in his Facebook account. (FREEMAN)
