Fortuna wants review of anniversary bonus

CEBU, Philippines - Mandaue City Vice Mayor Carlo Pontico Fortuna wants the committee on appropriation, budget and finance to review the proposed P10,000 anniversary bonus for each official and employees of the city.

Fortuna said he wants to make sure that the amount will not exceed what is allowed by law.

Councilor Nenita Layese has endorsed an appropriation of P5.6 million for the anniversary bonus of all city officials and employees on the occasion of Mandaue City's 47th Charter Day Anniversary

The funds will be taken from the existing appropriation under the general fund.

Layese said that granting anniversary bonus to employees is significant because the city is celebrating its anniversary.

Mandaue became a city on June 21, 1969 by virtue of Republic Act 5519. But Presidential Proclamation 586 designated August 30, 1969 as the date of the formal organization of the city government. (FREEMAN)
