Toledo City police officials relieved
CEBU, Philippines - The two police officials in Toledo City who, according to Mayor John Henry “Sonny” Osmeña, have failed to solve the “rampant” illegal drug activities in the city, have been relieved from their posts.
Senior Superintendent Clifford Gairanod, Cebu Provincial Police Office director, issued an order yesterday relieving Toledo City Police Station chief, Police Chief Inspector Fructoso Lim, Jr., and his deputy chief, Senior Inspector Rico Emperwa.
Osmeña told the media recently that he wanted Lim and Emperwa relieved since they have not addressed the city’s drug cases.
The mayor said that a number of notorious drug personalities in Toledo City freely roam around the city. He, however, refused to divulge the names of the alleged drug personalities.
Aside from Lim and Emperwa, Osmeña also said he wants the relief of former Toledo City Police chief, Police Superintendent Samuel Mina.
However, while Gairanod has issued the relief of Lim and Emperwa, he has designated Mina as officer-in-charge of the Toledo City Police Station, effective yesterday.
Gairanod said he has spoken with Osmeña on Wednesday and explained that Mina was just a supervisor in Toledo City during the election.
Gairanod made a request before the Office of the Regional Director in order to designate Mina.
“Since I am only an OIC I have to make a request before the Office of the Regional Director,” he said.
The FREEMAN tried calling Lim but failed to reach him. (FREEMAN)
