Amid weather distrubances: Stay alert - PAGASA
CEBU, Philippines - At least two weather disturbances are affecting the country bringing intermittent rainfall and thunderstorms in Metro Cebu over the weekend.
A local official of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration has advised the residents of Metro Cebu, especially those living in disaster-prone areas, to be alert of the tropical depression and the Intertropical Convergence Zone affecting the Visayas regions.
"Duha ang atong kinahanglan bantayan for the next three to four days, the tropical depression ug ang ITCZ," said Engr. Alfredo Quiblat Jr., officer-in-charge of PAGASA-Mactan.
Quiblat, however, said that the tropical depression Ambo may not have direct effect in Metro Cebu but it will "slightly enhance" the southwest monsoon or "habagat" affecting the other regions.
Ambo was spotted east of Borongan City, Eastern Samar yesterday morning.
"Ambo is expected to weaken once it will make a landfall tomorrow (June 27). Pero hinay lang ang bagyo ug dili kaayo grabi iyang epekto labi na diri sa Cebu," said Quiblat.
Nevertheless, Quiblat said Cebu should still prepare for any eventuality, especially those in areas identified as prone to landslides and flooding. (FREEMAN)
