2 men attempt to rob e-bingo in Lapu-Lapu

CEBU, Philippines - Two unidentified men tried to rob an electronic bingo outlet yesterday morning in Tamiya, Barangay Basak, Lapu-Lapu City.

Security guard Noel Abadilla of Cassadore Security Agency assigned in Bingo Boutique told police that he was body frisking the two suspects at the entrance door of the recreational establishment when one of the suspects suddenly pointed a gun at him and took his .38 firearm and cellphone around 9:25 a.m.

Police Senior Inspector Alcon Escusora, chief of Marigondon Police Station, said that the assistant branch cashier, Janelle Reyes, 29 of Ermita, Cebu City saw the suspects walking towards the cashier booth she was in.

Reyes reportedly locked the cashier booth and immediately hid in another room and called her boss.

The suspects attempted to open the cashier booth several times to no avail and decided to leave the establishment, said Escosura.

Escosura added that it is not clear whether the suspects used a motorcycle in escaping from the incident or just walked away from the area.

Police will look at the footages of closed-circuit television cameras in the area to determine the identity of the suspects.

"(The) CCTV is being reviewed for possible footage of the incidents and likewise the identification of suspects," Escosura said.

Last month, the outlet of the same e-bingo establishment in Barangay Basak, Mandaue City lost P68,000 to three robbers.

One of the suspects, Roy Deiparine, 31, was arrested at the parking lot of Insular Square by the Mandaue City Police Office-Investigation and Detection Management Branch.  (FREEMAN)
