Mandaue Council okays 14 contracts in last session

CEBU, Philippines - The Mandaue City Council approved the contracts of at least 14 consultants on its last session Wednesday.

Ironically, the consultants only have seven days left of service as the contracts approved cover the past six months from January 1 to June 30, 2016.

These include the consultancy contracts of Paterno Acabodillo, consultant for real property development; Mae Elaine Bathan for revenue generation; Emeterio Cabilao for information and service systems management and network; Antonio Dy for communication; Ma. Cristina Gabutina for trade and investment; Querubin Momongan for information technology; Oliver Navarro for Musical arts, culture and development; Perfecto Perilla for external affairs for senior citizen; Hidelito Pacual for sports development; Danilo Jaque for waste management; Eva Encabo for accounting, Ryan Villaflores for brand identity and marketing; Bernardino Amago IV for local government taxation; Oscar Rodriguez for Urban planning, and Amadeo Seno for government contracts.  

The outgoing councilors also marked their last session by extending to five years instead of just one year the accreditation of private tow truck applicants.

Councilors Ernie Manatad and Demetrio Cortes passed an ordinance appropriating P12.960 million as financial assistance to 21 barangays for efforts to maintain peace and security and augmenting traffic personnel.

Outgoing Vice Mayor Glenn Bercede will be taking on a new post as Board Member representing Cebu’s Sixth District. Taking over his post in the city is vice mayor-elect Carlo Fortuna.

The incoming 14th Council will be composed of both old and new faces.

Among the newcomers include former PBA player Elmer Cabahug, Ibabao-Estancia barangay chief Jun Delmar, Malcolm Sanchez, Looc Barangay Councilman Kevin Cabahug, Kabankalan Barangay Captain Cynthia Remedio, and lawyer Olin Seno.

Completing the lineup are veterans Demetrio Cortes, Neneta Layese, Tony Gabon and Benjamin Basiga.  (FREEMAN)
