Shabu worth P2M seized

CEBU, Philippines - At least P2 million worth of shabu was confiscated by different police units in Cebu Thursday and yesterday during separate buy-bust operations.

In Danao City, the operatives of the City Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operation Task Group seized 16.68 grams of shabu valued at P196,824 from Junel Batucan, 27 and his accomplice, Romel Batucan, 35, both residents of Bonifacio St., Poblacion, Danao City.

Aside from the two, the operatives also arrested Cahr Enriquez, 40; Claudio Galo, 43; and Roy Russel Sanchez, 24, while they were using shabu in an open room in the area on Thursday around 2:25 p.m.

The buy-bust operation was conducted after the CAIDSOTG verified the report that Junel and Romel were engaged in selling illegal drugs.

Confiscated from the possession of Junel were one medium plastic pack and seven small plastic sachets believed to be shabu while five pieces of small plastic sachets were recovered from Romel.

In Cebu City, the policemen of the San Nicolas Police Station seized at least P1.6 million worth of shabu yesterday afternoon in a buy-bust operation in Sitio Lawis, Barangay Pasil.

Arrested were Richard Bedua, alias “Etsay”, 42; and Alvin Abellar, 43, both residents of the same barangay.

The police were able to recover two large packs, a medium pack and 63 small plastic sachets believed to be shabu from the possession of Bedua while a medium pack and 104 pieces of small plastic sachets all believed to be shabu were seized from Abellar.

Aside from Bedua and Abellar, the San Nicolas police yesterday arrested, Raymund Luces, alias “Emot”, 21, at Rallos St., Barangay Suba, in a separate operation.

The police were able to recover a large pack, two medium packs and 80 small plastic sachets all believed to be shabu from Luces.

Senior Inspector Chuck Barandog, police chief of San Nicolas Police Station said three suspects were included in their Lambat-Sibat Operation top 10 drug personalities.

Meanwhile, after receiving a report from a concern citizen that a certain Ermarvin Bola-bola was engaged in illegal activities inside a cemetery in Barangay Carreta, Cebu City, the City Intelligence Branch conducted a buy-bust operation.

The operatives were able to arrest Bolabola, 35, a resident of Sitio Semper, Barangay Carreta, around 2:30 p.m. yesterday.

They were able to recover two small heat-sealed plastic sachets and four medium plastic packs of shabu worth at least P200,000. —(FREEMAN)
