CEBU, Philippines - The barangay captain of Adlaon, Cebu City is in critical condition after his motorcycle crashed while he was traversing a slippery road past 10 p.m. Tuesday.

Adlaon Barangay Captain Elvis Narra suffered a severe head injury and is presently in coma at the Perpetual Succour Hospital.

According to Apas Barangay Captain Ramil Ayuman, Narra and other barangay officials from other mountain barangays went to Barangay Lusaran to attend an event before the incident happened.

On the way home, Narra drove with the other barangay captains but reportedly went ahead as he was driving fast.

However, Narra slipped when he hit a rough patch of the elevated road. He was thrown off the motorcycle and hit his head on a rock. Narra was reportedly not wearing a helmet when the incident happened.

The other barangay captains rushed to Narra and brought him to the hospital.

The Association of Barangay Captains (ABC) has agreed to provide financial assistance for Narra's medical expenses.

Meanwhile, a man was killed in a vehicular accident on the Marcelo Fernan Bridge 9:30 a.m., yesterday.

Alvin Castañares was driving his motorcycle when he reportedly slipped due to the wet road and was thrown under a mixer truck driven by Joesel Aranco.

According to the investigation, both vehicles were travelling on the same direction from Lapu-Lapu City and were heading towards Mandaue City.

Castañares allegedly tried to take over the mixer truck when the motorcycle slipped. He reportedly fell on the road and was run over by the truck.

Castañares was then bought to the Mandaue City District Hospital where he was declared dead on arrival

According to Police Officer 1 Eutiqui Soringa Jr., investigator of the Mandaue City Traffic Management Unit, the roads were slippery because of the rain.

Aranco said he did not see Castañares.

"Wala man to tuyua. Traffic kaayo jud, hunung dagan gani ang mga sak-yanan unya nahibung nalang ko na miulpot naman ang lubot sa mixer kay nay nabangalan. Pagtan-aw naku naa nay katunga sa lawas sa tao na nabangil, mao to midagan ko dayun midirtso ug surrender sa traffic enforcer," said Aranco.
